Benson Bridge, the trail to the top of the falls, and the loop trail to Wahkeena Falls remain closed. As of Oct. 7, 2020, the reservation system for accessing falls has been temporarily suspended.
    • Oct 7, 2020 – Multnomah Falls – Franklin Ridge Loop: The trail to Franklin Ridge is closed due to Eagle Creek fire damage.

Benson Bridge, the trail to the top of the falls, and the loop trail to Wahkeena Falls remain closed. As of Oct. 7, 2020, the reservation system for accessing falls has been temporarily suspended. Devil’s Rest can be accessed via the Wahkeena trail (#420).
    • Oct 7, 2020 – Multnomah Falls to Larch Mountain via Oneonta Trail: The high-traffic Multnomah Falls Recreation Area is currently in a limited reopening due to the social distancing measures enacted by local and state health officials. Benson Bridge, the trail to the top of the falls, and the loop trail to Wahkeena Falls remain closed. As of Oct. 7, 2020, the reservation system for accessing falls has been temporarily suspended. This hike can be accessed via the Wahkeena trail (#420).
    • Oct 5, 2020 – Wahclella Falls Loop: This high-traffic trail remains closed to the public due to the social distancing measures enacted by local and state health officials. The most current closure information can be found at ReadySetGorge.com.

      The upper section of the trail’s loop has an ongoing closure due to a damaged bridge and washouts sustained during and after the Eagle Creek fire. For your safety, respect closure signs and stay out of closed areas.
    • Oct 5, 2020 – old – Beacon Rock: This high-traffic trail remains closed to the public due to the social distancing measures enacted by local and state health officials. While parts of Beacon Rock State Park are open, including the parking lot and restroom at the trailhead, the closures also include the group campground and the upper picnic area.
    • Oct 5, 2020 – Table Mountain – Heartbreak Ridge Loop: This trailhead is no longer accessible. The alternate route to Heartbreak Ridge is by using the Bonneville Trailhead. Please note this nearly doubles the mileage. Learn more.
    • Oct 5, 2020 – Starvation Ridge to Warren Lake: The Starvation Ridge Cut-off trail (#414B) is closed due to a complete trail washout and rock slide. Do not attempt to get anywhere near the marked slide barrier or navigate around the slide area. View map of closure.

    • Oct 5, 2020 – Silver Star Mountain – Ed’s Trail Loop: The Forest Service roads up to Ed’s Trailhead are in poorer condition with each passing year. You will encounter potholes, boulders, stream channels, and washboarding. A four-wheel-drive, high-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended.
    • Oct 5, 2020 – Shepperd’s Dell Falls: Trail closed due to the 2017 Eagle Creek fire. Currently there is no timeline for reopening. 
    • Oct 5, 2020 – Oneonta Gorge to Lower Oneonta Falls: Trail closed due to the 2017 Eagle Creek fire. Currently there is no timeline for reopening. 
    • Oct 5, 2020 – North Lake: As of summer 2019, the Wyeth trailhead is closed and there is no legal way to get to North Lake from the Wyeth Campground. This is due to transmission tower and access road/trail maintenance conducted by Bonneville Power Administration and their contractors. During the closure, please observe and respect the closure signs and gates.

    • Oct 5, 2020 – Mount Defiance: Starvation Ridge Cut-off trail (#414B) is closed due to a washout on the trail. View map.
    • Oct 5, 2020 – old – Mosier Plateau: In June 2020, Mosier City Council voted to keep all their city parks closed until Sept. 17. With the closure of their city parks, including Pocket Park, the Mosier Plateau trail will also remain effectively closed until Sept. 17.
       
      The Mosier Plateau trail is managed cooperatively by the city of Mosier and Friends of the Columbia Gorge Land Trust. The first half-mile of the trail runs through Mosier Pocket Park and alongside the town’s Pioneer Cemetery. A recreation easement from a local landowner then connects the city park to our land trust property.

    • Jul 2, 2020 – Columbia Hills Historical State Park: Horsethief Lake Petroglyphs: Due to the social distancing measures enacted by local and state health officials, the pictograph tour is closed to the public. The most current closure information can be found at ReadySetGorge.com.
    • Jul 2, 2020 – Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge – Gibbons Creek: The northeast section of the loop is closed for winter habitat October 1 – April 30 each year. During those months you can do an out-and-back walk instead of a loop.

      The Gibbons Creek Wildlife Art Trail is closed due to construction on the Steigerwald Floodplain Restoration Project.

    • Nov 26, 2018 – old – Horsetail, Ponytail & Triple Falls: Trail is open only to Ponytail Falls. Past the falls, the trail is closed because of damage from the 2017 Eagle Creek fire.
    • Jul 12, 2018 – Green Point Ridge: Trail closed due to the 2017 Eagle Creek fire. Currently there is no estimated reopening date due to heavy damage sustained after the fire. Wyeth trailhead and a short segment of the Wyeth trail that connects to Gorge #400 are open. The remainder of Wyeth #411 is closed to the junction with Green Point Ridge Trail (#418) on Mt. Hood.
    • Jul 10, 2018 – old – Cape Horn Loop: The 1.5-mile road section of this loop hike is on a county road. Please walk single-file and be aware of vehicle as there are blind corners. Walk on the side of the road as you normally would; remember this section is not a trail even though it’s part of the hike. Also, please be mindful of local residents and park in designated parking areas. If you park along Cape Horn Road, make sure not to do it in front of a gate, driveway, or private entrance.

      From Feb. 1-July 2, the lower section of the Cape Horn trail has a seasonal closure for nesting peregrine falcons. The closed section is located between a point about a half-mile southwest of the west pedestrian underpass/tunnel at SR-14 and the bottom of Cape Horn Rd. Failure to respect the closure can result in as much as a $5,000 fine, and future use of the trail is dependent on hikers respecting this closure.

      This is not a dog-friendly trail because of steep cliffs. Two dogs have died here recently so please keep your dog at home.
