Western Gorge, Oregon

Trail Description Driving Directions
Trail Alert, Jul 12, 2018: Trail closed due to the 2017 Eagle Creek fire. Currently there is no timeline for reopening.
Starting from the Elowah Falls Trailhead, hike up to the junction with Trail #400, and continue the very steep ascent, following signs for Nesmith Point. This will lead you right onto the Nesmith Point Trail (#428), then up to an old road, where you will find an old fire lookout and abandoned outhouse. Once at the top, great views of the Gorge and surrounding mountains allow the weary hiker a nice rest before a knee-breaking trip back down.
