Washington State Congressionals Lead Bipartisan Effort on LWCF, Critical Federal Funding for Parks

From KIRO News: In a rare show of bipartisan cooperation, two Washington Congressional representatives, Senator Maria Cantwell (D) and Dave Reichert (R) called for permanent full funding of the Land Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), a federal program that since 1964 has conserved millions of acres of land for restoration and public recreation. In recent years, the program, which does not use any taxpayer funds, has been a political football in the Republican-led Congress and threatened with expiration.

Thousands of acres in the Columbia Gorge have been preserved through the LWCF.
