Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
Gorge Trails Recovery Team
Friends has teamed up with Trailkeepers of Oregon, Pacific Crest Trail Association, and Washington Trail Association to roll out a series of trail building and stewardship work parties this spring and summer along with trainings and courses to prepare volunteers.
Join the team
Friends, Travel Oregon, and the US Forest Service have teamed up to educate hikers at popular trailheads throughout the Gorge this spring and summer.
Hike Leader & Shepherd Training 101
Join us on March 3, 2018 for our annual Hike Leader & Shepherd Training 101 course - highly recommended for new and experienced hike program volunteers! We’ll go for a morning hike and address some common on-trail scenarios. We’ll then provide lunch before an afternoon classroom session to ensure you have the best information and resources needed to lead and/or shepherd successful Friends hikes.
Stewardship Work Parties
Lend-a-hand this spring and summer by helping clean up landscapes, pulling invasive plants, collecting and planting native seeds, removing old fencing, tabling at trailheads and more. No experience needed – we’ll provide all tools and training! Most stewardship work parties will be led by Land Trust Stewardship Coordinator Sara Woods on our land trust properties from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
