Easy: 2-3 miles total | little elev. gain

Columbia Hills State Park Tour Guide Jim Chase will lead us to ancient petroglyphs and rock images, including Tsagaglalal, or She Who Watches. The petroglyphs portion will be from 10-11:30 a.m. and is a ¾-mile walk. After the tour, we can enjoy a picnic lunch by Horsethief Lake (BYO, weather-dependent).

After lunch, we’ll drive to nearby Dancing Rock land trust preserve to discover abundant wildflowers and terrain shaped by the ice age floods (1.5-mile hike, rolling elevation change) from 1-2:30 p.m.

Note: though the total distance is short, these trails are rocky and uneven so not suited for those with uneasy footing.

Registration is a two-step process:
  1. Click "+Add" to complete a separate ticket for each person in your party.
  2. On 2nd page, click the bubble next to the main contact’s name (to autofill the information). This person will receive the confirmation email.
Note: We no longer have wait lists. Keep an eye on sold-out events for space to open up as cancellations happen. Registration remains open until 2 p.m. the day (or Friday) before the outing.
