Climate change is dramatically impacting treasured natural places in the Pacific Northwest—including the Columbia Gorge—placing strains on wildlife, natural resources, and communities alike.

Join wildlife biologist and educator Bill Weiler and Friends Conservation Organizer Denise López for a live webinar Thursday April 14, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. (Pacific) discussing climate impacts on the Gorge and exploring ways you can take action today. Discussion will include updates on local community climate initiatives as well as an update on the Columbia River Gorge Commission's efforts to develop a new Climate Action Plan.

This webinar is being organized collaboration with the Columbia Gorge Climate Action Network as part of its 2022 Earth Month event series. The presentations will be followed by a moderated Q&A session hosted by Friends Community Engagement Specialist Kassy Delgado.

Denise is a conservation organizer for Friends of the Columbia Gorge with extensive experience working with communities of color and equitable access to natural resources. Before joining Friends she worked for the Portland Bureau of Planning & Sustainability.

  • Bill Weiler, Project Director, Sandy River Watershed Council

Bill is the current project director at Sandy River Watershed Council, and a career wildlife biologist. He is a member of the Columbia Gorge Climate Action Network and the founder of GEO (Gorge Ecology Outdoors).

Moderator & Host

  • Kassy Delgado, Community Engagement Specialist, Friends of the Columbia Gorge

Kassy oversees Friends' outdoor youth education programs and community engagement efforts. An avid hiker and volunteer adventure leader with Wild Diversity, Kassy has over a decade of experience in working to connect communities with nature.
