Following the success of last year’s inaugural show, 301 Gallery and Friends of the Columbia Gorge are excited to announce INSPIRED! II, an art exhibition opening this summer in downtown Hood River. On display throughout August and September 2025, the exhibit will showcase the work of regional and local artists inspired by the stunning landscapes within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.
This year’s exhibit broadens its focus, inviting artists to interpret all public lands across the 85-mile stretch of the National Scenic Area. Participating artists have spent early spring exploring these lands — either on-site or in their studios — translating their experiences into creative expressions. The resulting work spans a range of mediums, with an emphasis on 2D works and select 3D pieces that highlight the diversity and beauty of the Columbia Gorge.

The exhibition is co-curated by Hood River ceramic artist Polly Wood and celebrated painter Cathleen Rehfeld, both members of 301 Gallery. “I’m thrilled to see this event return for a second year,” said Wood. “The response last year was so enthusiastic — why not keep a good thing going?”
INSPIRED! II celebrates the powerful intersection of art and nature, offering a rich, multi-dimensional look at how the Gorge continues to inspire and shape local creativity. The show opens with a public reception during First Friday, August 1, from 5–7 p.m. at 301 Gallery.
“This exhibition shows what’s possible when creativity and conservation come together,” said Tim Dobyns, Communications and Engagement Director at Friends of the Columbia Gorge. “Through this partnership, we’re not only celebrating the beauty of the Gorge, but also building a culture that values its protection. This year, we’re excited to add short video profiles that highlight how artists connect with the landscape.” Follow @gorgefriends on Instagram for the latest artist profiles.
