It's been far too long since we've gathered together and so much has happened during that time including the purchase of a few new properties in the Gorge. Come join Friends at one of our newest land trust preserves on June 4th!
In November of 2020, Friends purchased a property atop Cape Horn that we have held an option to purchase since 2009! This 36-acre property provides amazing views and the opportunity to expand the existing trail system to potentially include accessible connections to the Nancy Russell Overlook. The view from this property is unlike anywhere else in the Gorge!
We'll be leading guided hikes to the Cape Horn Vista and to the Nancy Russell Overlook. Staff are looking forward to hosting engaging conversations with members about our current work in advocacy and legal matters, stewardship, public engagement, and how we're moving forward on the vision of Gorge Towns to Trails. You'll have the opportunity to learn about our Gorge Accessibility Project and experience the stunning overlook higher than any other easily accessible point in the Gorge!
We'll have lawn games, snacks, and drinks at this open-house.
While this event is free, parking space is limited, and we are trying to ensure space for everyone interested in joining us. With that in mind, when you register, you will be asked to choose a time slot for your arrival.
This is an outdoor event. Please come prepared for a variety of weather conditions. We recommend bringing a hat, and layers, and wearing comfortable, closed-toed shoes. The terrain is uneven and may not be suitable for mobility devices. Please email elizabeth@gorgefriends.org with any questions about accessibility.
