Mt. Ulka Preserve, OR

Thursday, April 30, 2020

9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Strenuous: Approx. 3 miles | 1,000-ft elev. gain (Members-only)

Enjoy a hike at Friends of the Columbia Gorge Land Trust's Mt Ulka Preserve with Land Trust Director Dan Bell. Mt Ulka sits above the Discovery Center, provides terrific views down the Columbia River towards Rowena Plateau, and is otherwise closed to the public. We’ll learn about Friends’ efforts to protect land and advance trail connections between Mosier and The Dalles for Friends’ Gorge Towns to Trails initiative.

Due to the closed nature of the preserve and private access, we request all participants be current Friends members.

Warnings: This is a very strenuous hike with stretches of steep terrain and undeveloped trail. There is lots of poison oak along the way, and participants will need to scramble up rocky slopes.

Wear sturdy hike boots/shoes, and bring your daypack with a lunch, snacks, water, and layers for protection against the elements. Hiking poles are recommended. View the recommended 10+ Essentials List to help you pack.

Before this outing, make sure you understand our Hike Program Information & Guidelines.
