Gorge Trail #400 Native Planting

Saturday, March 30, 2019

10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Join Friends' stewardship volunteer coordinator, Mika Barrett and Oregon State Parks to plant native trees and shrubs.

This planting project is located adjacent to the Gorge Trail #400 and Historic Highway State Trail, both of which were affected by the 2017 Eagle Creek fire. Volunteers will plant native shrubs on a grassy patch that separates the trails from highway I-84 to improve screening for trail users and increase the density of native vegetation. We will plant over 1,100 native trees and shrubs at this location over a course of three work parties. Some of the native species include: Western redcedar, willows, douglas spirea, and mock orange. Please note, due to the close proximity to the highway, this site can be pretty noisy.
