Explore one of Oregon’s most historic towns and landscapes, where the fierce whitewater of the Great Cascades of the Columbia gave rise to an ancient Native American portage, and later, the name of a town and an entire mountain chain. Stay overnight at the base of the beautiful Bridge of the Gods, one of the Gorge’s most iconic sites. With Friends Towns to Trails Project Manager Renee Tkach, we'll visit with Cascade Locks craft brewers, explore a historic (and half-submerged) locks canal, hike the famous Pacific Crest Trail with an author/thru-hiker, and experience the biggest ice cream cones in the Gorge. On Sunday, ODOT staff will join us for an exclusive tour of a recently-completed section of the Historic Columbia River Highway.
