Gibbons Creek at Steigerwald National Wildlife Refuge

Western Gorge, Washington

A lovely new trail at Steigerwald National Wildlife Refuge, great for birding and wildlife viewing. This trail is a flat graveled path that leads you through riparian areas rich in wildlife viewing opportunities. Hikers may see great blue herons, geese, ducks, grebes, pileated woodpeckers, great horned owls and more.

NOTE:  The northern segment of the Gibbons Creek Wildlife Art Trail will be closed from October 1 through April 30.

This seasonal closure is intended to protect the wildlife from disturbance by users of the trail. Closure devices and signs will be placed at the northeast corner of the Gibbons Creek foot bridge and the entrance to the trail from the fish ladder along the Columbia River. The rest of the trail, from the trailhead, across the Gibbons Creek Bridge, and on up to the Columbia River Dike, will continue to be open during the winter months.
